TWO BOOKED FOR FENTANYL

Yesterday, Deputies with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office received information that Michael Phillips and Amber Mazen were in the area of West Avenue in a black Nissan Sentra, both with outstanding warrants. City police were able to assist and stop the vehicle, and upon arriving, Deputy Michael Winebarger made contact with Phillips, Mazen, and a female who was with them.

Philips appeared to be extremely nervous, and after being placed into custody a search of his person yielded a folded piece of aluminum foil containing a gray powder substance believed to be fentanyl weighing approximately 1 g. Inside the same pocket a separate piece of folded aluminum with no contents contained within was found, this was believed to be for the resale of narcotics.

While searching the vehicle, a blue metallic cylinder was located in the glove box, and inside was a clear plastic bag containing a gray powder substance weighing approximately 7 g. In the vehicle’s trunk, a sawed-off Remington shotgun was located. Phillips admitted to possessing all of the drugs and the shotgun located inside the vehicle.

Phillips and Mazen were transported to Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office intake for booking.
