TRAFFIC STOP ON I-40 REVEALS DRUG TROVE

On Monday, Deputy Blake Richardson observed a red Chevrolet Equinox pulling a UHaul trailer traveling on I-40 East around mile marker 315, visibly swaying and crossing over the center line and fog line several times. The vehicle also attempted to hit its brakes abruptly for the deputy to pass them.
The vehicle pulled onto the shoulder, and Deputy Richardson initiated a traffic stop around mile marker 313, identifying the driver who instantly stated the deputy’s lights were blinding him and that’s why he was driving erratically.
Richardson identified the passenger and owner of the vehicle as Amber Augustine. Upon contact, I noticed a strong smell of Marijuana. I asked Augustine if there was any Marijuana in the car and she stated yes, the stuff she bought in Chicago.
Deputy Richardson advised her that Marijuana is still illegal in Tennessee. A search of the vehicle yielded 46 THC gummies in various packages, 1 large rolled Marijuana joint, 14 smaller rolled marijuana joints in various packages, 3 round white pills with 111 imprinted on them believed to be Carisoprodol, 6 small white round pills with M 2 imprinted on them believed to be Hydromorphone and 14 white round pills with M 4 imprinted on them believed to be Hydromorphone.
The pills were located in a suitcase with women’s clothing inside of it and 1 round white pill with 111 imprinted on it believed to be Carisoprodol was located in Amber’s purse bringing the total of that type of pill to 4.
Both subjects were read their Miranda warnings and Amber admitted to all narcotics belonging to her. The driver was released on scene, but Augustine was arrested and transported to the Cumberland County Jail for further processing.
All suspected narcotics were photographed, logged, and placed into evidence.
