WEST AVE. VANDAL CAUSE OVER $12,000 IN DAMAGE TO VEHICLES

AUTHORITIES NAB TWO SUSPECTED OF VANDALISM AT CROSSVILLE LONG JOHN SILVERS

On Tuesday, Officer Keith Sadula received a phone call from a shop owner about a male subject walking in front of a shop on West Avenue. The male subject is said to have matched the description of someone on video surveillance vandalizing cars in the parking lot at around 2:36 a.m.

Upon arriving officer Sadula saw the subject walking on West Avenue in front of the Sunoco and was wearing a black shirt with white lettering on the tail end. Officer Sadula hollered at him, motioned him over, and asked his name. After giving his first name, Sean, officer Sadula initially allowed him to keep walking.

The owner of the shop met Officer Sadula in the parking lot of Cumberland Dentistry and showed him pictures of the subject from the surveillance camera. Officer Sadula was able to determine that the subject walking on West Avenue was the suspect on the video surveillance. After seeing this officer Sadula hollered at the male subject and ordered him to come back, which he complied.

Once the subject had come back, the officer told him to take his hat off and found that he matched the subject in the video. Officers Sadula identified the subject as Sean Weaver and smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. Weaver had slurred speech, red watery eyes, and an unsteady gait. He was placed into custody for his own safety and the safety of the public.

Officer Jessie Henson observed the video surveillance of Weaver which showed him entering the parking lot at 2:36 a.m., walking up to an RV, breaking the windshield wiper, and then walking up to a yellow box truck and hitting the headlight with a pipe, then throwing the pipe, walking back into the parking lot, and trying to open a white Mercedes door. He later attempted to open the windows on the previous RV, and at 3:02 a.m. he walked back to the RV and broke the windshield wiper again. He would then climb the ladder on the rear of the RV, break the water spicket out of the ground, and then walk over to a mailbox, open it, and run away.

Officer Henson said that the store owner gave him a phone that was located under one of the RVs, which was a brand new phone. Officer Henson served him warrants and showed him the phone to which he stated that it was his and gave Henson the passcode to unlock it.

The total value of damage is estimated at around $12,430.
