FAIRFIELD LADIES CLUB DONATES $22,000 TO ROANE STATE FOUNDATION

BBBTV12 – The Fairfield Glade Ladies Club recently donated funds to the Roane State Foundation for the 2024-2025 Fairfield Glade Pam Biggs Scholarship. The full gift totaled $22,000 and is already benefitting college students in Cumberland County.

The scholarship program with Fairfield Glade Ladies Club (FGLC) was initiated in 1977 and renamed in 2012 for the late Pam Biggs. Club leaders described Biggs as a dedicated member who served on many committees and coordinated important events. Despite a terminal illness, Biggs continued to fulfill her volunteer efforts.

“Pam was an inspiration to each life she touched, and we were proud to honor her courage, spirit, and teamwork by renaming this scholarship in her memory,” said Terri Brown, president of Fairfield Glade Ladies Club. Over the past several years, the club has given more than $137,000 to assist Roane State students in accomplishing their educational goals.

“We absolutely love being able to support Roane State Foundation in its mission and continue to be amazed and inspired by Roane State students,” Brown added. “This is one important way we can give back to our community.”

The club directed $17,000 of its total donation this year to non-traditional college students. The remaining $5,000 will be awarded to students in Roane State’s Middle College. These students are juniors or seniors in high school who are working toward an associate degree.

So far in the 2024-25 academic year, these scholarships have already assisted 13 non-traditional college students and six Middle College students.

“The Fairfield Glade Ladies Club has become a tremendous supporter of the college and its students,” said Roane State President Chris Whaley. “This latest donation will allow us to continue helping Roane State students in Cumberland County as they pursue their dreams.”

Roane State’s campus in Cumberland County was recently expanded to include a new health science wing, hosting the very first nursing cohort at that location. The added space also makes it possible to meet the increased demand for health science education in the area.
