TRANSFORMER FIRE ON BREWER ROAD LEAVES OVER 500 WITHOUT POWER

Last night around 9:57, a power transformer on Brewer Rd caught fire. Cumberland County Fire Crews responded and no one was injured in the fire, however, the damage left 500 or more people without power on a night when temperatures dipped below 16 degrees Fahrenheit.
Volunteer Energy Cooperative crews worked in freezing temperatures to restore the power. The overall outage lasted up to one hour and proceeded off and on through the night as lines were switched to accommodate.
Since then, the transformer has been fully repaired and power is back to normal in the area.
