KAREN SHANKS ELECTED TO CUMBERLAND COUNTY COMMISSION

Last night, the Cumberland County Commission met to decide who would fill Rebecca Stone’s term as the 3rd District Representative.
Four candidates were considered. Craig Clark, Curtis Boston, Karen Shanks, and Michael Dibiccaro.
Of these, Shanks was selected. Shanks graduated from East Tennessee State University and taught first grade for 37 years, working with over 1,000 children. She also has two daughters who are teachers and one son who works as a dentist at Northside Family Dentistry.
Shanks was also selected as the Cumberland County Republican Women’s Club’s Woman of the Year in May.
Shanks will serve in the following committees as well:
- Building and Grounds Committee
- Environmental Committee
- Rules Committee
- Investment Committee
- Public Records Commission
- Joint Economic Development Board
In addition to Shanks, several others were appointed to boards as well.
- Sam McAdoo was reappointed to the Cumberland County Building Codes Board of Appeals.
- Missy Sliger was reappointed to the Cumberland Plateau Water Authority.
- Kevin Poore, Sandy Brewer, and Wanda Reid were appointed to the Adult-Oriented Establishment Board.
- Jose Rodriguez and Deborah Ward were appointed to the Cumberland County Agricultural Extension Committee.
- Adam Ciabattari was appointed as County Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
