PUTNAM DEPUTIES ARREST MAN WITH STOLEN TRAILER FROM CHURCH

On December 28, 2024, Detective Everett received a report of a stolen trailer from Life Church located at 2223 N Washington Ave, Cookeville, TN 38501.
After reviewing video footage, Detectives could see a Blue Nissan Frontier leave the parking lot at 6:47 AM on December 25, 2024, with a Black enclosed trailer attached to the back of the truck. PCSO Dispatchers were able to assist Detectives in locating the same Blue Nissan Frontier with the trailer attached driving up Buck Mountain Rd here in Putnam County at approximately 6:59 AM.
Later that same night, Algood Police stopped the same Blue Nissan Frontier with a trailer attached to the truck. The driver inside the vehicle was identified as Christopher Roberts. Detectives, assisted by Patrol Deputies, went to Roberts’ residence on Oakdale Circle in Cookeville as part of the investigation. While at the residence, Roberts admitted to Detectives that he had stolen the trailer and that it was at his cousin’s house located on Starlight Rd in the Buck Mtn area. With all information gathered during the investigation, Detective Everett was able to identify and recover the stolen trailer and later return it to Life Church.
On January 3, 2025, Detective Everett was able to identify a second stolen trailer that was reported stolen in Cookeville that Christopher Roberts was also responsible for. Detective Everett was assisting Detective Harris with an investigation when he recognized some of the stolen belongings he had seen at Roberts’ residence on December 28, 2024. This led to the recovery of the second trailer.
While investigating the scene on January 3, 2025, Detectives located a backpack with a Taurus 9mm firearm inside of it. It was later determined to be Roberts’ firearm. Roberts is a convicted felon.
Christopher Roberts was charged with 2 counts of Felony Theft and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. Roberts has a bond set at $34,000 and a court date of February 10, 2025.
