TVA REQUIRED TO PAY ROANE COUNTY $948,000 FOR ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

As the TVA Kingston fossil plant transitions from its use of coal to produce electricity over to natural gas in the next several years, TVA is still required to pay Roane County an estimated $948,000 this year for what is known as environmental impact funds.
During the Roane County Commission’s meeting, the commissioners approved a resolution to place the money in fund 171 which is a reserve fund for the county.
As the plant switches over to natural gas, those funds will be reduced over the next several years from 75% down to 50% and even to 25% when the plant goes online for natural gas.
