LOCAL FAVORITE SINGING ARTIST JOHNNY MOORE LAID TO REST

Mr. Johnny Moore, a country music artist and longtime favorite of many in Crossville was laid to rest Friday at Hermitage Memorial Gardens in Nashville. Johnny passed away Tuesday January 21st in Nashville at the age of 95. Before moving to Crossville Mr Moore was a longtime Country artist. He was a businessman and owned service stations across multiple states. Johnny performed at many functions in Crossville and many times at the Palace Theater. He was a friend to all who met him. Always had a smile on his face and never met a stranger. He had a hit song in the 60’s called “15 Acres Of Peanut Land”. Johnny is the uncle of country singer Jeannie C. Riley who had the number one hit “Harper Valley PTA” and helped to spearhead her music career. Johnny is survived by his lovely wife Susie Moore, Daughter, Dianne (Lynn) Malone. Sons, Darrell(Robin) Moore and Johnny G. Moore. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Johnny was a deacon at Oak Hill Baptist Church.
