FATAL HEAD-ON COLLISION LEAVES ONE DEAD, TWO INJURED

ROANE COUNTY, TN – A head-on collision on Harriman Highway resulted in one fatality and two injuries Friday afternoon, according to a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) preliminary report.

The crash occurred at 3:17 p.m. on February 14 at 3915 Harriman Highway in Roane County. Authorities reported that a 2017 Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando R. Rodriguez, was traveling south when it crossed the double yellow line into the northbound lane. The Mustang then collided head-on with a 2021 Dodge Ram heading north.

Rodriguez suffered fatal injuries at the scene. The driver of the Dodge Ram, 38-year-old Dustin Wilson, and his passenger, 32-year-old Kristina Chudy, both from Arkansas, sustained injuries but survived. No charges have been filed at this time.

After the impact, the Mustang left the roadway and came to a final stop in a ditch. The Dodge Ram, meanwhile, rolled downhill, overturned, and struck a utility pole before coming to rest off the road.

The crash remains under investigation by Tennessee Highway Patrol.
