FAIRFIELD MAN ENCOUNTERS NEW WALMART / PLAYSTATION SCAM

On April 9, 2025, Cumberland County dispatch informed Fairfield Glade Police of a scam complaint. Sgt. Donnie Hammons contacted the complainant by phone who reported receiving a text message seemingly from Walmart, claiming a $940 charge for a Playstation that was made on his credit card.
The text included a number to call for details.
The complainant called and spoke with someone claiming to be Scott Davis, but refused to share personal or financial information. He contacted his bank, First National, and froze all accounts and cards, requiring his presence for any withdrawals.
No financial loss or unauthorized charges occurred. While speaking with Sgt. Hammons, the complainant received another call from the suspect.
Sgt. Hammons advised him not to engage but, if necessary, to inform the suspect that a police report was filed and direct further communication to the police.
