On May 14, 2025, at 8:40 PM, an accident occurred on Methodist Campground Drive West from Old Jamestown Hwy in Cumberland County.

Jonathan E. Gonzalez, an 18-year-old from Tennessee, was driving a 2024 CFMOTO motorcycle northbound when it veered off the road, crossed a grassy area, struck a fence and a tree, and came to rest between them.

Gonzalez, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown into the tree and died from the impact. No other vehicles or passengers were involved, and no charges are listed pending investigation.
