According to WDEF, an active investigation is underway in Rhea County regarding a series of racially charged social media posts originating from an Instagram account named @rheaco_barstool, which has since been deleted. The offensive and racist posts, directed at Red Bank, surfaced prior to a football game between Rhea County High School and Red Bank last Friday night.

The account was not officially affiliated with Rhea County High School or Barstool Sports. Dr. Amie Lonas, Rhea County Director of Schools, stated that these posts do not represent the school or community’s sentiments toward Red Bank, emphasizing the healthy rivalry between the schools.

The Rhea County Sheriff’s Office and Hamilton County law enforcement are investigating, and those responsible will be dealt with accordingly.
