ORDINANCE TO INCREASE SEWER/WATER RATES PASSES AT ROCKWOOD COUNCIL MEETING

The Rockwood City Council met Monday evening to discuss and approve several key agenda items. A significant item was the second and final reading of an ordinance to raise water and sewer rates, following a public hearing where no one spoke.
The rate increase, initially passed last month, will be implemented over four years, increasing rates by approximately 28% by the end of the plan, according to the Water, Gas, and Sewer Department. The ordinance outlines an increase of about $5 on monthly bills in the first year, rising to $10, and up to $22 by the fourth year.
The council also approved a 2% discount for early payment of city property taxes and a $1 increase in city court fees. Additionally, Scott Brun, Rockwood Airport manager, presented an annual report via PowerPoint to the council, mayor, and attending citizens.
