PUTNAM DEPUTIES INVESTIGATE THREATS MADE AT COOKEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Today, October 2, 2025, PCSO SRO Deputies were notified of a message containing threats of mass violence towards students and faculty at Cookeville High School. SRO Deputies and immediately followed protocol and took the suspect into custody without having to disrupt school operations by going on a lockdown.
Sheriff Farris said, “Every threat is real until proven otherwise. Our SRO Deputies are trained to remove the threat from the facility, and I commend them for working with school faculty to quickly resolve this situation. Please have a conversation with your children about the seriousness of threats of mass violence. It is not a joking matter.”
The suspect was charged with Threat of Mass Violence (T.C.A 39-16-517) against Cookeville High School and is currently being detained in Putnam County Juvenile Detention.
