DRIVER FLEES SCENE OF ACCIDENT ON FOOT; ARRESTED AFTER TRYING TO GET CAR BACK

On October 18, 2025, at approximately 00:05, Deputy Shawn Aytes of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a vehicle accident at West Main Street in Pleasant Hill in Sparta. Dispatch reported that the female driver had fled the scene on foot, and upon arrival, no one was found at the involved vehicle, which was towed by Thompson’s Wrecker Service with a hold placed on it.
Later that evening at 18:30, 37-year-old Lois Danyelle Selby of Crossville entered the sheriff’s office lobby inquiring about the vehicle hold. She admitted to driving the vehicle during the accident, stated she had been drinking, and planned to retrieve it the next morning.
Selby was arrested on-view for leaving the scene of an accident, booked into intake, and released on a $1,500 bond with a court date of November 10, 2025, at 08:30.
The vehicle hold was subsequently lifted.
