NO INJURIES IN I-40 WRECK IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY
On October 18, 2025, at an unspecified time, a collision occurred on westbound Interstate 40 at mile marker 328 in Cumberland County. Vehicle 1, a 2020 Freightliner driven by 54-year-old Wei Hai Xie from Texas (who was wearing a seat belt and sustained injuries), was traveling eastbound in the left lane.
Vehicle 2, a 2003 Mercedes driven by 75-year-old Robert Garrison from Tennessee (belted and uninjured), was in the right lane with 59-year-old passenger Ambertara Garrison (also belted and uninjured).
The Freightliner attempted to merge right, striking the rear of the Mercedes with its trailer bumper; both vehicles came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder near the impact site.
No charges are pending against any parties.
