CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED FOR DUI AFTER CRASHING, FLEEING SCENE WITH LOADED GUN

According to a report by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, on November 11, 2025, at approximately 7:05 PM, Cumberland County Deputy Shawn Aytes responded to a vehicle accident on Flynn’s Cove Road in Crossville, Tennessee.
The caller reported an intoxicated male driver who had crashed into a ditch, freed his vehicle, and fled toward Lantana Road. Deputy Aytes located the suspect, 63-year-old Mark John Frankowski of Crossville, driving erratically in the ditch of Flynn’s Cove Road, nearly striking mailboxes. After stopping the vehicle, the deputy observed Frankowski exhibiting clear signs of intoxication: a strong odor of alcohol, red watery eyes, slurred speech, and difficulty standing.
Frankowski admitted to drinking five beers and refused field sobriety tests. During a frisk, a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun was found in his waistband. The vehicle showed front-right damage, and the original crash site had property damage.
Frankowski was arrested on-view for Driving Under the Influence, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Possession of a Handgun While Under the Influence, Erratic Lane Changes, and Violation of Seat Belt Law.
A search warrant was obtained and executed for two vials of blood, drawn at the Cumberland County Jail at 8:15 PM and submitted to the TBI for testing. The vehicle was towed by Beaty’s Towing, and the firearm was photographed and secured inside the vehicle.
Frankowski was booked with a total bond of $4,000 and a General Sessions court date of December 15, 2025.
