CUMBERLAND COUNTY CLOSES LANTANA PRECINCT, MERGES WITH LAKE TANSI FOR 2026
According to a report by the Crossville Chronicle, the Cumberland County Election Commission voted in this month’s meeting to permanently close the low-traffic Lantana voting precinct in the 5th Civil District and merge it with the Lake Tansi precinct starting in the 2026 election year, after learning that its longtime host, Lantana Grace Church on Lantana Road, would no longer be available.
With only 810 active registered voters, the precinct saw minimal in-person turnout—182 voters in the November 2024 presidential election, 40 in August 2024, and 120 in March 2024—with most opting for early voting, according to Elections Administrator Jill Davis. Affected voters will be reassigned to the Lake Tansi precinct at the recreation center on 106 Deer Run Circle, receiving new registration cards by mail soon; the change takes effect immediately but impacts no elections until the May 5, 2026, county primary.
This reduces the 5th District from three precincts to two (Vandever and Lake Tansi) and the county total to 23, affecting only those previously assigned to Lantana. For details or questions, contact the Election Commission at 931-484-4919.
