SEMI-TRUCK DRIVER INJURED AFTER CRASHING OFF I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY

On November 15, 2025, at approximately 10:05 PM, a 2016 Freightliner semi-tractor pulling a refrigerated trailer was traveling westbound on Interstate 40 in Cumberland County, when it ran off the right side of the roadway at the 308.6 mile marker.
The truck traveled down a steep embankment, struck several trees along the wood line, jackknifed, and came to rest. The impact caused the trailer’s load of refrigerated meat to spill through the front of the trailer onto the grassy median. The driver, 56-year-old Arien J. Sala of Tennessee, was wearing his seat belt and sustained injuries; he was transported for medical treatment.
No passengers were listed in the vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation by the Tennessee Highway Patrol remains ongoing.
