CITY OF CROSSVILLE ESTABLISHES NEW GUIDELINES FOR CASH PAYMENTS

From Crossville Finance Director Nathan Clouse:

To: All City of Crossville Tax Payers and Rate Payers
The Treasury halted production of pennies for general circulation on November 12, 2025. Due to the halt in production, the City of Crossville is establishing the following guidelines for all cash payments effective December 1, 2025.
I. Utilities – For any water and/or sewer rate payers who will be paying in cash, your bill will be rounded to the nearest nickel when payment is received. This will result in either a small balance due or a small overpayment (credit) on your account. Any balance due will be added to the next month’s bill. Any balance due as a result of this policy will not be assessed a late fee. Any overpayment will be applied to the next month’s bill.
II. Payment of taxes or for any other City services – Any payments for property taxes, permits, cemetery plots or any other amounts due to the City that are being paid in cash MUST be paid in exact change.
This policy will not apply to any person paying amounts due with any other payment method other than cash.
Sincerely,
Nathan Clouse, Esq., CMFO
Finance Director
