Several accidents occurred in the area on Monday afternoon and into the evening. A massive 5-vehicle pileup happened on Interstate 40 westbound near the 357-mile marker, resulting in two minor injuries and significantly disrupting traffic for hours during the investigation and cleanup, which began just before 6:00 p.m.

Around the same time, another wreck occurred on Post Oak Valley Road, where a vehicle struck and severed a power pole; the county sheriff’s office responded, and no injuries were reported.

Additionally, two motorcycle crashes were reported: one on the Gallaher Road exit ramp with minor injuries, and another on Oakdale Highway, where the rider apparently struck a guardrail and fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the three incidents, with the exception of the Post Oak Valley Road crash.
