STRUCTURE FIRE AT CROSSVILLE FUNERAL HOME QUICKLY HANDLED; NO INJURIES
Earlier today, just after noon, a fire broke out at Crossville Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Crossville, disrupting normal business operations. The incident originated in the facility’s oldest crematory, where a flue fire ignited unexpectedly while the equipment was in active use.
Flames quickly escalated, spreading upward into the attic where combustible materials fueled its spread. Emergency responders arrived promptly, deploying approximately 1,000 gallons of water to combat the blaze, and managed to bring it under control within 15 to 20 minutes, preventing further damage.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported among staff, visitors, or firefighters. Initial damage assessments peg the losses at around $50,000, covering structural repairs, equipment replacement, and potential smoke damage.
