CUMBERLAND DEPUTY JOHN COLEY TERMINATED AFTER START OF T.B.I. INVESTIGATION
John Coley, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office’s 2024 SWAT “Operator of the Year” and a Patrol Sergeant, has been terminated following an ongoing investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), initiated at the request of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. According to Public Information Officer Gary Howard, Coley’s dismissal resulted from violations of departmental ethics policies and conduct unbecoming of an officer.

Sgt. John Coley has been terminated from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office following the initiation of a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) case at the request of the 13th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. His dismissal stems from violations of departmental ethics policies and conduct unbecoming of an officer.
