Earlier today, around 8:30 a.m., numerous emergency units responded to a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 70 east of Kingston, near the Cave Creek Road intersection. The accident resulted in a complete closure of the highway in both eastbound and westbound directions. Motorists in the area were advised to seek alternate routes due to the significant traffic disruption at the location.
Roane County EMA Director Tim Suter stated via text that one person was airlifted by helicopter to a Knoxville hospital after it landed in the Oral Baptist Church parking lot, while a passenger in the same vehicle was transported by Roane County ambulance to a Knoxville hospital; both sustained multiple fractures.
