ROCKWOOD POLICE HOST SHOP WITH A COP EVENT

From the Rockwood Police Department:

ROCKWOOD, Tenn. — Friday December 19, 2025 — The Rockwood Police Department brought holiday cheer to local families today by hosting its “Shop with a Cop” event at Walmart in Rockwood. The program, which had not been held in several years, was revived through the efforts of Officer Cofer, who spearheaded the initiative to support families in need during the Christmas season.
“Christmas should always be that joyful time of year for everyone, but the reality of our area is it is not,” Officer Cofer said. “We have people struggling to make ends meet every day. I brought this idea up and was given the green light. I knew if we did this as a department, we would make an impact on families in our area.”
The event was made possible through generous donations from local businesses, which provided the resources for officers to accompany children and families while shopping for holiday gifts.
Rockwood Police Chief Kelly Pittman praised the department’s efforts and highlighted Officer Cofer’s leadership. “I’m proud of our officers and what we were able to accomplish today,” Pittman said. “I’m happy that we have people like Officer Cofer who have the drive to go out of his way to make a positive impact on the community. We are already planning on doing this event again next year.” In addition to all the children being able to shop for toys, each family was sent home with a Christmas dinner food box. Each box was stuffed with traditional Christmas food.
In addition to Rockwood police officers, the event included participation from Roane County juvenile court officers, administrative staff from the City of Rockwood, and officers from the Oliver Springs Police Department. Together, the collaboration underscored a shared commitment to supporting families and spreading holiday joy across the community. The Rockwood Police Department wants to send a special thank you to Jessica, Jennifer, Jeff and all of the staff at Walmart. The staff went out of their way to provide a space for our event and help with every logistical concern.
The “Shop with a Cop” program not only provided gifts but also strengthened bonds between law enforcement and residents, reinforcing the department’s mission of service and compassion during the holiday season.
