POWER OUTAGE AND WATER MAIN BREAK DISRUPT HARRIMAN AND KINGSTON AREAS
The Harriman Utility Board posted on Facebook Saturday afternoon about a major power outage on South Roane Street, affecting the restaurant row area from Wendy’s to the Cardiff community. Their investigation revealed a damaged guy wire making contact with the primary wire, which was promptly repaired. Although the exact cause remains uncertain, the post suggested that the guy wire may have been struck by a vehicle. They apologized for any inconvenience caused.
Additionally, on Friday, a major water line break caused portions of downtown Kingston to flood with running water, mud, and debris. According to sources, the break involved a 12-inch water main on Poor Road, just east of Highway 70 near the downtown area, sending water downhill into the district. Some residents were without water for several hours as Kingston Water Department officials and Street Department crews worked from Friday morning into the afternoon to repair the damaged main.
