TRAGIC NIGHT IN ROCKWOOD: TWO FATALITIES REPORTED IN SEPARATE MEDICAL EMERGENCIES
Last night, the Rockwood Fire Department and police responded to two separate medical emergencies in the city, both of which tragically resulted in fatalities.
The first incident occurred around 11:15 p.m., when first responders and officers were dispatched to the Martin Manor apartments at the end of West Rockwood Street. They found an unconscious male subject, and CPR was immediately administered. Despite efforts, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was later transported to the Knoxville Forensic Center for an autopsy.
Shortly after midnight, emergency crews—including Rockwood fire first responders, police, and an ambulance—were called to the Brown West apartments, located off Highway 70 East behind Roane State College. There, a three-month-old child was found unresponsive, and CPR was being performed. The infant was rushed to Roane Medical Center under emergency conditions, with a Rockwood fire responder accompanying them en route. The child was pronounced dead upon arrival.
