CUMBERLAND DEPUTIES WARN OF IMPERSONATION SCAM

SCAM ALERT – PUBLIC WARNING The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about an active phone scam currently targeting our community.
Several citizens have reported receiving phone calls from a man falsely claiming to be “Sgt. Zach Ellis of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Civil Warrant Division.”
This caller is NOT affiliated with our agency.
Important Facts to Know:- The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office will NOT call you demanding payment for civil warrants, missed court dates, fines, or fees.
- We will never request payment over the phone, by gift cards, prepaid cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency.
- Caller ID can be spoofed to appear as a legitimate law enforcement number.
If you receive this call hang up the phone immediately and do not share any information with the caller.
