DETAILS ON YESTERDAY’S CRASH ON I-40 IN CUMBERLAND COUNTY; DRIVER CHARGED
According to a preliminary report by the Tennessee Highway Patrol, on February 2, 2026, at approximately 4:26 a.m., a traffic crash occurred on Interstate 40 (I-40) in Cumberland County, Tennessee, at mile marker or location 140 E 334.
A 2005 Ford F-250, driven by 31-year-old Gabriel Alex Aguilar from Maryland, who was wearing a seat belt and uninjured, was traveling westbound when it crossed over the left side of the roadway into the eastbound lanes. The F-250 then sideswiped a 2013 Nissan Altima driven by a 36-year-old, who was also wearing a seat belt and uninjured.
Following the impact, the F-250 veered into the ditchline where it came to final rest, while the Altima came to rest on the right shoulder. No passengers were reported in either vehicle.
Aguilar faces pending charges.
No injuries were reported for either driver.
