I.R.S. EXPANDS TAX RELIEF TO ALL 95 TN COUNTIES, EXTENDS DEADLINE TO JUNE 8 DUE TO ICE STORM
The IRS announced on Wednesday that it is expanding tax relief for Tennesseans affected by January’s devastating ice storm. Initially in early April, the agency had limited the relief to specific counties, granting affected individuals and businesses until May 22 to file their returns.
However, the extension has now been broadened to cover all 95 counties in Tennessee.
Taxpayers across the entire state will now have until June 8 to file their federal individual and business tax returns and make any tax payments. The IRS has already automatically identified eligible taxpayers in the state.
Additionally, those needing copies of previously filed returns can obtain them without paying the usual fees by submitting Form 4506 or 4506-T and writing “Tennessee Winter Storm Fern” in bold letters at the top.
