CROSSVILLE POLICE INTERVENE IN HEATED ALTERCATION OVER $30,000 WORTH OF POKEMON CARDS

On April 15, 2026, Crossville Police responded to a verbal altercation at Cardboard Kings involving a high-stakes dispute over Pokémon cards. The shop owner reported that the seller had a history of shorting him on inventory, totaling nearly $10,000 in previous losses. During this specific encounter, the seller brought in roughly $30,000 worth of cards, but the owner noticed items were missing from the agreed-upon batch. As a result, the owner paid $20,000 in cash but withheld the remainder of the balance. This triggered a heated argument where both parties allegedly exchanged physical threats, including a claim that the seller threatened to shoot the owner.

The confrontation reached an impasse when the two could not agree on how to reverse the deal. The seller offered to return the cash if the owner reloaded the cards into his vehicle, but the owner refused to provide the labor. Because the dispute was rooted in a private civil agreement, responding officers determined they could not legally compel either party to return the money or the merchandise. They advised the seller that his only recourse for recovering his property or the remaining funds would be through civil court.

Before leaving the scene, the seller was officially banned from the property. As he departed, he made a disparaging comment regarding the safety of the storefront, prompting a warning from officers. While no arrests were made, the incident was documented as a matter of record, and the police department initiated extra patrols for the business for the following two weeks.
