James P. Easter, age 75, transitioned out of this life on April 23, 2026, at the VA Medical Center in Lake Nona, FL. He was born June 7, 1950, in Loudon County, the son of the late A.D. and Henrietta I. Easter. Jim served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a retired Microbiologist from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy F. Easter, and baby sister, Donna.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Doris Holt Easter; his daughter, Brandon E. Lauer (Gregory Lauer); son, James P. Easter II (Marie Easter); and grandchildren, Rachel Hemsley, Rebecca Hemsley, Elizabeth Lauer, Timothy Lauer, Daniella Lauer, and Zachariah Lauer; and sister, Diane Easter.

Kyker Funeral Home is honored to serve the Easter Family and will host friends and family on Saturday, May 2nd from 12:00-1:30pm. Graveside service will follow at Paint Rock Baptist Church Cemetery at 2pm with Rev. Dr. Alan Smith officiating. Full military honors provided by the Roane County Military Memorial Honor Guard and the United States Army. Pallbearers are James P. Easter II, Gregory Lauer, Timothy Lauer, Jason Wallace, Ricky Ladd, and Bruce Cunningham.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Jim’s memory to the Paint Rock Baptist Church Cemetery Fund. Kyker Funeral Home of Kingston is serving the Easter Family.
