WOMAN ARRESTED AFTER TRAFFIC STOP AT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR DRUG POSSESSION
On April 24, 2026, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Sgt. Bullard spotted a blue Chevrolet Blazer with an active BOLO on the property of Northfield Elementary School in Sparta, Tennessee. The vehicle was being driven by Sara Bumbalough, who had just dropped off a child. After observing her cross double yellow lines, Sgt. Bullard initiated a traffic stop. Deputies Satterfield and Purdy responded to the scene, where Bumbalough admitted to improperly using a “Manufacturer Transport” plate to avoid registering the vehicle, a practice she said she had been doing for about three weeks.
Bumbalough was arrested for the registration violation and transported to the White County Jail. A consent search of the vehicle and her purse revealed approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine (split across three containers), two glass pipes with methamphetamine residue, 6 orange Alprazolam pills, 7.5 white Alprazolam bars, 11.33 orange Suboxone pills, along with several prescription pills (Bactrim and high-dose Ibuprofen) and a white container holding an unidentified peach-colored powder. She was charged with the following offenses:
– Sale or delivery of Schedule II drugs (0.5 grams or more) within a drug-free zone
– Possession of drug paraphernalia
– Improper use of vehicle registration
– Possession of drugs without a prescription
– Enhanced penalty under the drug-free school zone statute
Authorities noted concern over the presence of illegal narcotics and paraphernalia in a vehicle that had just transported a child, suggesting possible ongoing drug use around the minor. The White County Sheriff’s Office emphasized that this is an active judicial matter and that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
