ROCKWOOD TO HOLD GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY FOR NEW $6 MILLION AIRPORT TERMINAL BUILDING
The City of Rockwood and Rockwood Aviation are inviting the public to the groundbreaking ceremony for the new $6 million Rockwood Municipal Airport Terminal building, set for May 12th at 2 P.M. EST. The project aims to better serve the East Tennessee general aviation community, businesses in the Oak Ridge Technology Corridor, and Flatrock Motorclub members.
It complements ongoing airport improvements, including a privately funded $11 million hangar complex and a manicured grass landing strip designed to attract backcountry recreational flyers from across the country. Upon completion, the terminal will feature meeting spaces, passenger and pilot relaxation and planning areas, a grab-and-go food section, and community gathering spots to enjoy aviation in the airport’s scenic setting.
The announcement was made by City Administrator/Recorder Becky Ruppe.
