GHIRARDELLI RECALLS MULTIPLE POWDERED BEVERAGE MIXES OVER POTENTIAL SALMONELLA CONTAMINATION

Ghirardelli Chocolate Company of San Leandro, California, is voluntarily recalling specific powdered beverage mixes due to the potential for Salmonella contamination. The issue stems from milk powder supplied by California Dairies, Inc., which was used as an ingredient by a third-party manufacturer in these products.

Salmonella can cause serious and occasionally fatal infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals typically experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, the infection can enter the bloodstream and lead to more severe conditions such as arterial infections, endocarditis, or arthritis. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this recall.

The recalled items are primarily large-format powdered beverage mixes intended for food service and institutional use, though some may have reached consumers through e-commerce platforms. Affected products include various Chocolate Flavored Frappe, Classic White Frappe, Premium Hot Cocoa, Sweet Ground Powders (Chocolate & Cocoa, White Chocolate), Vanilla Frappe Mix, White Mocha Frappe Mix, Mocha Frappe Mix, and Frozen Hot Cocoa Frappe Mix, each identified by specific lot numbers and “Best if Used by” dates ranging through 2027 and early 2028.

Consumers who have purchased any of the listed products should contact Ghirardelli Chocolate Company at **1-844-776-0419** (available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week) for questions or additional information.
