SINGLE-VEHICLE ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY ROAD WORK CAUSING CONGESTION ON I-40 NEAR KINGSTON
Ongoing traffic incidents in Roane County on Interstate 40 are currently affecting travel in both directions near the 350 to 353 mile markers.
As of 9:03 AM on May 1, 2026, emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle accident on I-40 Eastbound at mile marker 353, which has subsequently caused congestion building back to mile marker 350.
Simultaneously, emergency road work on the Westbound side at mile marker 353 has resulted in the closure of the right lane and shoulder.
It is not known currently if the road work was a factor in the accident.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution, slow down, and move over for emergency vehicles while avoiding these areas if possible.
