HIT AND RUN AT PEAVINE TACO BELL IN CROSSVILLE
On April 30, 2026, at approximately 8:31 PM, Officer Amy Sherrill responded to a hit-and-run crash at the Taco Bell on Peavine Road in Crossville. The victim, had parked his white 2021 GMC Sierra in a stall next to a narrow passway between the Taco Bell and Mr. Zip parking lots. While he was eating at a nearby restaurant, a U-Haul truck struck the front passenger-side corner of his vehicle as it tried to squeeze through the tight pathway. Witnesses described the driver as a Black male in his 20s or 30s with short hair and a thin mustache, and noted that the U-Haul had an Arizona license plate.
A short video recorded by a passerby captured the collision but did not show any identifying numbers or plates on the U-Haul. Officer Zimmerman reviewed security footage from the Mr. Zip gas station, which showed the U-Haul entering the Taco Bell lot from Peavine Road, attempting (and failing) to navigate the passway, then reversing back onto the road—nearly causing another crash—before fleeing toward I-40. Glare from a streetlight obscured any potential identifying details on the video. No usable security cameras were found at the Taco Bell itself.
No suspects have been identified. A minor crash report was completed for the victim, and the witness video was entered into digital evidence at the Crossville Police Department.
