MOTORCYCLIST AIRLIFTED TO UT MEDICAL IN KNOXVILLE AFTER CRASH IN TEN MILE
A motorcyclist was airlifted to UT Medical Center in Knoxville tonight following a crash in the Ten Mile community of South Roane County.
According to South Roane County Fire Chief Mike Curtis, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on McElhaney Road. Officials say the 32-year-old male motorcyclist was involved in an incident with a pedestrian in the roadway—either attempting to avoid or striking the individual.
The motorcyclist, who was not identified, suffered head injuries along with several scrapes and bruises. Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. He was transported by Lifestar Air Medical to UT Medical Center for treatment.
The pedestrian, believed to be the rider’s uncle, was treated at the scene but did not require transport.
Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Chief Curtis also noted that Lifestar landed at the River Road Fire Station during the response.
