I-40 BRIDGE INSPECTIONS AND REPAIRS CAUSE LANE CLOSURES IN PUTNAM COUNTY
A routine TDOT bridge inspection is scheduled on I-40 over Indian Creek at Mile Marker 267.94 in Putnam County today. The right eastbound lane and shoulder will be closed from 8 AM to 12 PM, followed by closure of the right westbound lane from 12 PM to 5 PM. Motorists should approach with caution, prepare to merge left, and watch for inspection personnel and equipment on the bridge.
On Wednesday, May 13, routine inspections of the I-40 bridges over Poplar Grove Road and the Falling Water River at Mile Marker 291.39 will require similar lane closures: the right eastbound lane and shoulder from 8 AM to 12 PM, and the right westbound lane from 12 PM to 5 PM. Drivers are advised to merge left in advance and remain alert for workers and equipment.
Additionally, bridge repair and resurfacing work continues on I-40 from Mile Marker 303.6 to 304.2. Traffic has been shifted within the project area, and motorists should use extra caution due to construction activity in the median and vehicles entering/exiting the work zone.
