CUMBERLAND COUNTY REPORTS SOLID FINANCIAL GAINS IN APRIL 2026

Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster delivered some information about the county’s financials last night online.

In April 2026, the Cumberland County Codes Department issued 43 residential and 2 commercial building permits, along with 30 general mechanical and 41 general plumbing permits, collecting a total of $56,238 in fees. This represents an increase from $52,803 collected during the same month the previous year.

EMS services generated $624,500 in revenue for the month, exceeding the estimated monthly income of $433,333, though year-to-date collections remain $465,661 below projections. Sales tax collections for April (reflecting activity from two months earlier) totaled $1,255,571, which was $83,251 above estimates, putting year-to-date figures $522,896 ahead of revenue projections. Property tax collections are progressing strongly at 99.63 percent, improved from 97.4 percent at this time last year.

Hotel/Motel tax collections stand at $864,274 year to date, slightly below last year’s $877,337 and representing 72.02 percent of the $1,200,000 annual budget. Prisoner boarding payments for housing state inmates have performed well, reaching $516,559 year to date compared to $361,825 last year and already surpassing the full annual budget of $397,823. Overall, the county shows mixed but generally positive financial trends across key revenue streams.
