ROANE COUNTY RESPONDERS TO JOIN MULTI-AGENCY EMERGENCY EXERCISE AT ORNL ON JUNE 3
Emergency responders from the Roane County Office of Emergency Services, Hazardous Materials Team, EOC personnel, and Roane County EMS, along with Department of Energy (DOE), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), federal, state, and local partners, will participate in a full-scale emergency exercise at ORNL on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. The exercise, which is part of a regular series of drills conducted at DOE Oak Ridge facilities, will run from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT and will include simulated response activities and environmental monitoring or sampling around the Oak Ridge Reservation.
The public may observe these training activities, which are designed to test the ability of emergency personnel to respond quickly and effectively, ensuring the protection of the public, site employees, and the environment in the event of a real emergency. Citizens interested in learning how to prepare for a DOE emergency can visit the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency’s website. ORNL is managed by UT-Battelle LLC for the DOE’s Office of Science.
