DETAILS ON THIS MORNING’S MULTI-TRUCK CRASH ON I-40 NEAR KINGSTON
A multi-truck crash involving a commercial vehicle early this morning completely closed Eastbound Interstate 40 in Roane County at mile marker 360.2, just west of Buttermilk Road. Reported around 6:30 a.m., the collision blocked the roadway and caused traffic to back up nearly three miles to Lawnville Road, according to TDOT SmartWay traffic cameras.
While the Tennessee Department of Transportation managed to reopen one lane by 7:25 a.m. during ongoing cleanup efforts, both eastbound lanes were not fully reopened until just after 10:00 a.m. The cause of the crash and the extent of any injuries remain unknown at this time, pending the release of an official report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
