CUMBERLAND MAYOR ALLEN FOSTER ANNOUNCES COMPLETION OF COUNTY COURTHOUSE REPAIRS
On June 5th, Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster hosted an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the completion of the Cumberland County Courthouse repairs and renovation project. What began as a minor water leak and stained ceiling tiles in September 2022 ultimately uncovered major structural issues, leading to a multi-year effort to restore and improve the historic 120-year-old building.
Mayor Foster thanked Speaker Cameron Sexton and Senator Paul Bailey for securing state funding, acknowledged the County Commissioners for their steady support, and praised the courthouse staff for enduring years of noise and office relocations. He also expressed gratitude to the maintenance and solid waste departments, local community organizations that provided temporary meeting spaces, and the various contractors and crews involved in the project.
Finally, the Mayor thanked the citizens of Cumberland County for their patience, noting that while the iconic courthouse clock will soon be fully operational with newly arrived custom parts, the overall restoration ensures the historic landmark will continue to proudly serve future generations.
