OLIVER SPRINGS TOWN COUNCIL APPROVES PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

Following a public hearing on Wednesday evening, the Oliver Springs Town Council officially approved a nearly 20-cent property tax increase for the upcoming fiscal year.

While the tax hike addresses immediate budgetary needs, local leaders are already shifting their focus to the town’s long-term growth. In an interview today, Mayor Jason Stiltner outlined key initiatives designed to revitalize the community, boost infrastructure, and attract new businesses.

Infrastructure & Economic Growth

A major centerpiece of the town’s modernization plan involves a face-lift for Tri-County Boulevard. According to the city manager, work to remove the grassy median along the busy highway corridor could begin within the next year.

Town leaders hope that clearing the median and paving the roadway—currently scheduled for 2027—will pave the way for new retail development along the high-traffic strip.

The Return of a Local Tradition

In addition to infrastructure upgrades, Oliver Springs is investing back into its community spirit by reviving its independent Fourth of July celebration this year.

The July 4th itinerary includes:

  • Daytime: Family activities kicking off in the downtown area.

  • Afternoon: Festivities moving toward Sharp Funeral Home.

  • Evening: Live music and a massive fireworks display hosted at Arrowhead Park.

Mayor Stiltner expressed optimism that these upcoming projects and community events will help drive the future success and vibrancy of Oliver Springs.
