MANCHESTER MAN DROWNS IN BARREN FORK RIVER, MARKING STATE’S 10TH BOATING FATALITY THIS YEAR

Authorities are investigating a tragic incident on the Barren Fork River that claimed the life of a Manchester man on Sunday, marking Tennessee’s tenth boating-related fatality of the year.

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) officers, along with Warren County EMS and the Warren County Rescue Squad, responded to an emergency call just before 11:00 a.m. near Rocket Park in the Mount Leo area.

According to officials, 48-year-old Corey Blake Phillips was paddling down the river with two companions. Following a brief stop, Phillips fell out of the boat and was found to be unresponsive.

His companions immediately dialed 911. First responders rushed Phillips to Ascension Saint Thomas River Park Hospital in McMinnville, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation. No further details regarding the cause of the medical emergency or fall have been released.
