SUNSHINE EARLY, STORMS RETURN LATE WEEK

Regional Forecast — Cumberland Plateau & Tennessee Valley

A refreshing stretch of cooler and drier weather will settle in through midweek. Temperatures gradually warm by Thursday, with shower and thunderstorm chances returning late Thursday night and continuing into the weekend.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy early, then becoming sunny on the Cumberland Plateau and partly sunny in the Tennessee Valley. Highs around 75 on the Plateau and 79 in the Valley. North winds 5 to 10 mph.

Tuesday Night: Mostly clear with patchy late-night fog possible across the Plateau. Lows around 54 on the Plateau and 57 in the Valley.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny and pleasant. Areas of morning fog are possible on the Plateau. Highs around 80 on the Plateau and 83 in the Valley.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy. Lows around 60 on the Plateau and 62 in the Valley.

Thursday: Sunny to mostly sunny with warmer temperatures. Highs around 84 on the Plateau and 87 in the Valley. Light south to southwest winds developing during the afternoon.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy with a chance of late-night showers and thunderstorms. Lows around 66 on the Plateau and 68 in the Valley. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Friday: Mostly sunny with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Highs around 85 on the Plateau and 88 in the Valley. Chance of rain 40 to 50 percent.
