CROSSVILLE MAN ARRESTED AFTER FLEEING INTO WOODS TO EVADE WARRANT SERVICE
A local man is facing charges after attempting to flee from law enforcement into a wooded area on Tuesday morning.
According to an incident report from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Joshua Alderman and Corporal Jake Brink arrived at a residence at Chestnut Hill Road around 11:58 a.m. on June 23, 2026, to serve an active warrant.
The suspect, identified as 44-year-old Stuart Paul Dishman Jr., answered the front door but immediately closed and locked it upon seeing the officers. Dishman then fled out the back door of the home, prompting a foot pursuit.
Deputy Alderman tracked Dishman into the woods behind the property. Despite receiving law enforcement commands to stop and show his hands, Dishman continued to flee through the brush. Deputy Alderman caught up to Dishman, who was attempting to hide behind a tree. Dishman then surrendered and complied with the deputy’s orders.
Dishman was placed under arrest at approximately 12:28 p.m. and transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Intake for booking.
Court records show Dishman is facing a charge of Evading Arrest, with a General Sessions court date set for August 3, 2026. He was also served with an outstanding warrant for Failure to Comply with a Child Support Order, for which he is scheduled to appear in court on July 1, 2026. Both charges currently carry a $0.00 bond amount.
