HIT-AND-RUN DRIVER FLEES SCENE AFTER CAUSING DRAMATIC CRASH ON NORTH MAIN STREET IN CROSSVILLE
Local authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fled the scene after causing a dramatic two-vehicle collision on North Main Street on Friday morning, knocking down a city light pole and sending another car spinning into the grass.
According to Crossville Police Department reports, Officer Brian Shelters responded to the scene near Walgreens at approximately 9:24 a.m. on June 19. Upon arrival, officers discovered a silver Honda Accord stranded in the grass facing north, alongside a downed city light pole that was partially blocking the southbound lanes of North Main Street.
The driver of the Honda told responding officers she was traveling southbound in the right-turning lane when another vehicle slammed into her from behind. The impact sent her car into an uncontrollable spin before it finally came to a rest on the Walgreens property. Juarez was uninjured in the crash.
Investigating officers noted significant damage at the scene, including a broken McDonald’s sign, a destroyed city light pole, and torn-up turf. Clear signs of the collision were left behind on Juarez’s vehicle, including tire marks and blue paint transferred from the suspect’s vehicle.
While canvassing the area for evidence, Lt. South and Det. Lorenz recovered a detached fog light believed to belong to the fleeing vehicle. A parts search indicated the piece likely originated from a Ford Expedition or a Ford Ranger. Additionally, an employee at nearby Pioneer Reality Inc. handed over an electrical connection and housing debris found scattered in their parking lot shortly after the crash.
Security footage obtained from Scooter’s Coffee later confirmed the sequence of events. The video shows a dark-colored truck traveling southbound on North Main Street when its front passenger side collided with the driver’s side of the Honda, triggering the destructive chain reaction.
The driver of the dark truck fled the scene immediately following the collision and has not yet been identified.
All physical and digital evidence, including the surveillance footage, has been processed and secured by the Crossville Police Department. The case remains under active investigation, and anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the suspect vehicle is urged to contact local authorities.
