SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AFTER WATER LINES CUT IN PLEASANT HILL VANDALISM

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into a misdemeanor vandalism incident after a local resident’s water lines were intentionally severed.

On June 28, 2026, Deputy Jordan Winningham responded to a property on East Main Street regarding a vandalism complaint. According to the incident report, the property owner discovered that the water lines inside the water meter boxes at both his primary residence and his nearby rental property had been cut.

Authorities estimate the incident occurred during the early morning hours of June 23, 2026, between 3:30 AM and 4:00 AM. Because the lines were cut on the homeowner’s side of the meter, the financial burden of the repairs falls on the property owner. The total damage is estimated to be over $1,000.

Law enforcement has identified a suspect in connection with the crime. The victim informed deputies that he and the suspect have been embroiled in a multi-year feud regarding a financial dispute over previous work done on the water lines.

The report has been formally approved by the sheriff’s office, and the case remains under investigation.

As of yet, the suspect has not been arrested or formally charged, and will go unnamed in this story.
